prop 8

I am against prop 8, I mean really against it. I am not going to give a long lecture, which there is one on why I think it is wrong and why I think it is high time that we broke down the last remaining barriers of equality because we should all know the difference between right and wrong.

Prop 8 is wrong, there is no question about it. I think it is good that we are finally putting this to a vote. I think it is good that there is not a proposition allowing gay marriage, because the same law that allowed me to marry Jen should extend to anyone who wants to marry the love of their life, and there are no more laws needed to ensure equality, we just need to enforce them and no collectively amend our most basic principle. We are a nation conived in liberty. It may have taken over two hundred and twenty years to achive this dream, but that should not deter us from continuing our quest. The mission statement of this country is, equality for all. I know that it is not perfect, but we are getting better and we need to move forward not backward.

“We can never be fooled that one revolution, once civil war, one march for equality is all we need in order to achieve the end game of equality. We need to be very proud of what we accomplished in the last two hundred and twenty years, and we should not consider our struggle complete until it is, and in our hearts, when that time comes, we will know it. ”
